Hooked
Angling, by its nature, is for anyone.
My memories of fishing are always fun and happy memories. Going away for the weekend with my father was a staple in my childhood. Catching bugs and mixing baits was the best kind of mess a young girl can find themselves in. From that first time I saw my “policeman” bounce and reeled in my very first carp my love of fishing was born, and it has only grown with time. I have dipped my toes in the waters of different fishing disciplines and have grown to love specimen angling and fly fishing. With the help of some really amazing people that I have met on my fishing journey I have learnt and grown as an angler. My love and passion for the sport has grown with each session, and my respect for the majestic animals we chase – Tarryn
One of my earliest memories of fishing is holding a handline and watching a piece of cork disappearing in the water as a Kurper swallowed a size hook with an earthworm on it. It evolved from using a handline to fishing with a rod and reel in a club together with my dad and brother. Conventional angling played a big role in the evolution of my fishing career. A few years ago, I dipped my toes in this “thing” called specimen angling. Overwhelmed and not sure how it worked, to say the least. Along the road I met some people that I am lucky to now call friends. With their help, I learnt all the basics of specimen angling: carp care, rig building and bait presentation. I continue to learn and evolve. My story is by far not finished as I chase the next set of scales – Rudi
